About Edgar Dollar

After graduating from Callaway High School in his hometown of Lagrange, GA, Dr. Dollar received his undergraduate degree in biology from Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. He went on to graduate school and subsequently medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, GA. He completed his internship at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA, and then he served as Captain in the United States Air Force where he practiced family medicine as a general medical officer for four years. Following his military service, he resumed his medical training at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he completed his residency in Family Medicine. Dr. Dollar recently completed his one-year sports medicine fellowship at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine located on Auburn University’s campus in Alabama.

Dr. Dollar is board certified in family medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is board eligible for a certificate of additional qualifications in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Dollar has a passion for sports medicine. He has provided team coverage for Westminster High School’s football team in Augusta, GA; Central High School’s football team in Phenix City, AL; as well as provided sports team coverage at Auburn University during his fellowship, which included football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, equestrian, tennis, golf, track and field, soccer, swimming, and diving. Dr. Dollar specializes in all aspects of musculoskeletal injuries, concussions, sports related injuries, fracture care, Orthobiologics, and osteopathic manipulative treatment.

When not working, Dr. Dollar enjoys spending time with his wife Pamela and their three children Ella, Brooks, and Allie. He also enjoys golfing, woodworking, antique car restoration, fishing, and boating.

Excellent doctor! I will definitely use him in the future. He compared my xrays and an MRI to anatomical charts and showed me exactly where my pain is coming from, and explained everything in layman's terms. I have seen Doctor Dollar twice for hip pain. He is very thoughtful, attentive, listens well, and really converses with you. I can ask him questions, explain my symptoms, discuss what I am doing, and he will respond with well though out questions, and unbiased comments about what I am telling him. He makes it easy to talk- and I need that. Seeing a doctor can be stressful enough, but when a doctor listens, it makes all the difference. I would recommend Doctor Dollar to anyone with joint pain and issues.

My first visit was in 2021 which was fantastic. I then went to another doctor recommended by my family doctor, WHAT A MISTAKE!!! So now I’m back with Dr. Dollar. He is so professional, knowledgeable and takes time to listen to you. He has such a sweet spirit. He diagnoses the problem with certainty. Also the staff is courteous and very welcoming. I have been coming to this facility for about 2 years. Although the staff has changed, the atmosphere has not. When you walk through the door you are greeted with friendly people who are very helpful. The wait time wasn't long at all. The friendly helpful people are in all areas; intake, x-ray and checkout. Dr Dollar is awesome! I have told my friends if they are looking for a place to go for orthopedic care Hughston Clinic is the place to go. They will be glad they did! Kudos to all the staff!!

So appreciate Dr. Dollar and all the nurses for their patience and attention to care today. I needed extra help getting my mom in and out of the car because of the reason we were there to see Dr. Dollar and the staff went above and beyond to help The fact that X-rays could be done right there meant one less trip for imaging and the staff who administered the X-ray were extremely accommodating to make sure my mom was comfortable while capturing the images they needed. I am again grateful to the doctors and staff for their expertise and willingness to help.

Dr Dollar listens to you. He gets you to tell him where you hurt and knows he can’t feel your pain that you have to tell him. He looks at what’s going on and tells you the best treatment. My name is Téresa and I came in to the Hughston clinic. Dr Dollar is my physician. He treated me for multiple breaks and fractures of my foot, ankle hand and thumb and wrist. Upon arriving to the office I was in excruciating in pain. They were able to start treatment immediately. They are very caring. Patient and thorough with your diagnosis. After several x-rays. I left the office with a cast from my thumb to elbow and one from my toes to knee. I have been treated with care and results. I am progressing from my injuries and being cautious not to injuring myself again by gaining strength through their awesome physical therapy department. Thomaston, Hughston clinic. Have amazing staff from the front desk all through the back to the x-ray. I encourage you to try them if you are injured, I could not ask for a better team of caregivers. When I first walked in the friendly staff to greet me was all smiles! Nice to see that in front staff employees. Also when each patient left they also spoke to them wishing each one a great day. I did get a quick appointment, I called on Tuesday and was in on Wednesday but I did have a longer than usual wait in the waiting area. But when I saw Dr Dollar he immediately apologized for the delay, I told him that was fine but he said it was not. He really knows his stuff he order an x-ray before making any judgements. Right away he came back and gave me the option to get treatment in this case a cortisone shot after he removed the fluid from my knee. This is my second visit to his office (first time for my hand) and was very impressed with how he used the advanced equipment each time to see right where he did the injection, which was nice to know they use it to get it right the first time. Also I love his sweet personality and his honesty about my options.

Everyone is always so friendly, yet professional. I met Dr. Dollar for the first time today. He came into the room with a smile, introduced himself and nurse. So many doctors don't do this anymore. I was a referral from the VA, I was impressed from the call for my appointment to the time I exited the facility. Friendly staff and MY Doctor, Dr. Dollar is phenomenal he diagnosed me in a matter of minutes from my X-RAYS. Everything was great from the time I walked into the door. The office was nice and clean and hand sanitizer was everywhere. In this day and age that's very important and I really appreciated it. The staff was very professional and the wait time was relatively short. It seems as though they space their appointments so that the office has limited patients inside at any given time. +100 Stars!!! From the front desk to triage to Xray to the exam room, ABSOLUTE PROFESSIONALISM! Thank you so Very Much! Doctors, nurses, techs do not take pride in their presentation with patients anymore, its a pay check. Hughston Clinic of Macon is the place. DO Dollar, listened to me and ordered test according to my complaints that my previous doctor's totally ignored and all my complaints were right there. If u are looking for Excellent Pt care, this is the place! I have 30yrs in the medical field and it has been years sense I have run into a doctors group with this level of professionalism. I feel like Dr. Dollar was very knowledgeable in his profession. He asked pertinent questions and listened to my answers, to give me, what I believe, was excellent advice and treatment. This was actually my first appointment with Dr. Dollar, but I was very comfortable with his assessment. I have really never been as happy with my first appointment at any other treatment facility as I have been with the Hughston Clinic. Thank you All so very much!!!!!! R.W. This was my very first visit I had heard great things about the practice and I experienced it for myself today and I was very happy the check in was easy which I had already had the chance to complete my paperwork on the portal and I really liked that and the fact that I did my X-ray before Doctor Dollar even came in the exam room was awesome also so I didn’t have a long wait at all today was a great day a great appointment and Doctor Dollar was awesome thank you Hughston clinic

Dr Dollar took time to listen, evaluate, and answer all my questions. He had a great “bedside manner” and was able to take complicated medical terminology and put it in simple layman’s terms for me to understand. I would definitely recommend Dr Dollar to anyone needing an orthopedic diagnosis and treatment.

Enjoyed meeting Dr Dollar; he has an air of professionalism and competence and gave me a shot in my knee along with good advice for dealing with it going forward. As always over the ten years or so that I have been using the services at Hughston locally and in Columbus, the office, medical and physical therapy staff are very pleasant and professional as well. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Dollar took time to understand the issue I was having with my hand/wrist, developed a treatment plan, and relieved the pressure of a cyst, all in one office visit. I appreciate that he valued my time, was through, and never talked "down" to me or dismissed the issues I was having with my dominant hand. I am on the road to a speedy recovery and getting right back to normal!

I had an appointment at Hughston Clinic in Thomaston, Georgia, today. The doctor I have seen for years, Dr.Donati, was so friendly, had a great bedside manner and was also very professional. I trusted him completely. However, he recently retired so I had to see a different doctor today. Naturally, I wondered what the new doctor would be like. I was not disappointed! Dr.Edgar Dollar has the same wonderful traits that Dr.Donati had and I felt like I was in good hands! Just like Dr.Donati, Dr.Dollar took the time needed to get to know me and discuss my medical problems without rushing in and out. Thank you, Dr.Dollar, for putting me at ease today and making me feel comfortable with the treatment for my medical condition. Dr. Dollar at The Hughston Clinic in Macon, GA is wonderul. He is kind and caring and took the time to listen to me on my recent visit. He answered all of my questions and took the time to give me information on what is going on with my back. Dr Dollar is through and compassionate. He addresses the problem head on and asks questions to find out what way you want to approach the problem. He will work with you to make sure but things are addressed as quickly as possible. I needed to go for additional testing and since I live a distance away he said the day I get the testing done he would work me into the schedule so that I only need to make one trip. The office staff is outstanding as well. I was extremely comfortable there. I would recommend them to anyone!Jim

My experience was great! Dr Dollar is a very kind and caring doctor with a great bedside manner! I tell you, when you walk in the door you have a warm feeling and at ease. The entire staff was great!! Dr Dollar looked at my X-ray and saw something else that I needed to have my primary to review and gave me the disc to take to my primary. My visit with Dr. Dollar yesterday was a very enjoyable experience. He was very concerned with the issue that was going on with my hip. He was very through in going over my previous treatment. Hopefully, with his expertise, we will get me back on the mends!
