About Tim Beals
Tim Beals, DO, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip arthroscopy, anterior hip replacement, knee replacement, and sports medicine.
He completed his fellowship in advanced hip preservation and reconstruction at the world-renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO, after completing residency at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital Residency program. Before coming to Hughston, he received his undergraduate degree in Molecular Cellular Biology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, IL, and his osteopathic medical degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, IL. After fellowship, he worked at Sports Medicine Oregon in Tigard, OR, as orthopaedic surgeon, partner, and vice president.
Dr. Beals enjoys treating athletes of all ages and working to get his patients back to their activities. Throughout his career, he has provided athletic coverage during high school, college, and professional sporting events. Specifically, he provided sports medicine coverage at Kendrick High School and for the Columbus Cottonmouths Professional Minor League Hockey and Columbus Lions Professional Indoor Football teams. He has assisted with athlete physicals at Auburn University, and Columbus State University, and preparticipation exams for Muscogee County high schools. Most recently, he worked with Team USA Track and Field, Team USA Ski and Snowboard, and Oregon’s Portland Timbers and Thorns.
Dr. Beals has special research interest in the treatment of pre-arthritis hip conditions, including dysplasia. He has presented at national conferences and has published on the subject in top orthopaedic journals. His dedication to high quality research has resulted in his placement on the editorial board of the Journal of Arthroplasty and The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopaedics. He holds Fellow memberships distinction in several professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
