About Brook Bearden

Dr. Bearden received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Georgia and his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Shands Teaching Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl. He continues to remain active in education and recently traveled to University of Oxford, England to learn about the Oxford unicompartmental partial knee.

Dr. Bearden is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

His areas of interest are hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty, outpatient joint replacement, minimally invasive joint replacement, fracture repair, hand surgery, and sports medicine. He is trained in the latest techniques including endoscopic carpal tunnel release, Oxford unicompartmental knee replacement, and direct anterior hip replacement.

I am active member of ASES, AAOS, AANA, AOSSM. I have been involved in some research last year to validate use of a particular suture anchor for the remplissage procedure. I serve as an editor for journal submissions for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. I also give lectures to our sports medicine fellows and teach the Auburn sports medicine fellows.

I have been to the Hughston Clinic in Valdosta and seen Dr. Bearden for both my care and my son's care. Whether approaching the reception desk or getting an X-ray, everyone at the clinic is always friendly and do such a good job. On my latest visit, the Nurse Practitioner (Aaron?) spent a lot of time questioning and diagnosing me. Through his physical evaluation, he was able to replicate the numbness in my arm, and show me that the source was my neck/spine and not my shoulder injury. Dr. Bearden also spent plenty of time with me. He is a top-notch doctor. His bedside manner is excellent as is his knowledge. I am very pleased with the care that Dr. Bearden provides me.

Dr. Bearden and his his entire team are just great. He answered our questions and gave us his honest opinion on my husbands situation. He also communicates with you so you can understand him. Today I painted my bathroom!!! Now, that might not sound like much fun to most people, but for me, it was awesome! This time last year, painting the walls would have been totally out of the question. I had severe pain in my right shoulder due to a torn rotator cuff. Dr. Bearden warned me that he could never give this old gal a "25 year old" shoulder again. Honestly, that is true! However, I can comfortably do things I haven't done in years. Thank you Dr. Bearden, Aaron, Drew and staff for your medical skill, expertise, and PATIENCE with me this past year. Robert ( Doctor Beardens’ PA) is “The Man” , he explains everything to me and answers all my questions . He is kind and knowledgeable. Had a 2 year follow up appointment. X-rays were taken and results are discussed. I also had some questions on my left hip and the possibility of having it replaced in the future. Dr Bearden explained the need for replacement and felt it wasn’t necessary at this time. He also covered my recovery options since I am a widower and informed me that I could recuperate at a rehab center till the time I no longer needed assistance. I wasn’t aware of that and expressed my gratitude for the information. He’s a great doctor who has compassion for his patients. I highly recommend him for your medical needs.

My knee replacement surgery was canceled by my local surgeon on medical leave. Several close friends are patients of Dr. Bearden and strongly encouraged me to call him immediately. I called my attorney son in Valdosta to check him out; he laughed and said he was their family ortho! He told me that he was conservative and that I would really like him. Dr. Bearden was kind enough to accept me as a new patient for surgery as soon as possible. My husband and I were extremely impressed with every single aspect of his clinic. A person actually answers the phone! Each employee made you feel so welcome. I sent a note about divine intervention to my friend for telling me about this wonderful practice. He promised to do the other knee, also! What a great visit.

Dr Bearden did a knee replacement in October 2023 for my husband who has Parkinson’s disease. The surgery was done at Southwell hospital in Adel. Would highly recommend Dr Bearden & Southwell. I saw 2 other surgeons before seeing Dr. Bearden. I wish I had started with him. I came here with a problem that I have been unable to understand or change and it was interrupting a normal life. Dr. Bearden and Aaron did an amazing job diagnosing the problem quickly after a thorough examination and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE explanation. They presented a very reasonable treatment plan and wonderful peace of mind. My appt was with Dr Bearden but I only saw his PA. However he was great & Im very satisfied. He recommended trying injections for both hands instead of surgery. Too early to tell if they will help but always glad to try less invasive options first. Office staff was nice. However, computerized pre-registration was a nightmare.

Awesome! From the moment you enter the Clinic until you leave. Dr Bearden treated me as though he had all the time in the world. Checked on my knee from partial knee replacement August 10th. Right where I needed to be. Wanted to know about the pain, physical therapy, and overall movement at home. Explained what to expect going forward, critical to do therapy esp. at home. The stretching and flexibility is all important of regaining back my "normal knee". No pain, no gain definitely important. I had been in SEVERE PAIN for going on 3 weeks. Once they got the referral from my PPC, they got me an appointment the very next day!! How AWESOME because I was almost at a point I was immobile. Dr. Bearden's Assistant did the initial exam and pinpointed exactly what my problem was. He ordered blood work to confirm and he was correct! They gave me a RX to help with my inflammation but wasn't strong enough. With ONE phone call, I got the RX I needed. They are EXTREMELY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL!! They don't leave you feeling you didn't get any answers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HUGHSTON CLINIC AND DR. BEARDEN!! AWESOME TEAM THEY HAVE!!!

So glad we found this doctor. My husband went to a different orthopedic doctor in Lake City, FL and he wanted my husband to have surgery whereas Dr. Bearden didn't suggest surgery, only a cortisone shot for his knee IF my husband felt he really needed it. Got an appointment in one day. They were running a little behind and called me in advance to let me know. When I arrived I was immediately checked in, sent to private room for initial meeting with assistant, sent in for X-rays and back to exam room in15 minutes. Doc came in reviewed X-rays and gave prognosis. Received cortisone shot and checked out in 45 minutes. Forgot to asked doctor about another issue and he took me back in and took CarID issue. This was by far one of the best medical experiences I have ever had. This is one day after my visit and I worked all day on that knee. The Dr and staff are so pleasant and professional. After my injury was wrongly diagnosed at our local ER and an unhappy experience at a well-known orthopedic clinic, I asked a few friends for a referral and they all said to call Dr Bearden. He was the first of all the doctors I saw to actually touch my injured hand to determine what was really wrong. He didn't need an MRI to know immediately what happened. Because of the wrong original diagnosis, the ligament had completely detached and required surgery. If I had gone to Dr Bearden first, I might have avoided surgery BUT this was truly one of the best surgical experiences I have ever had. He and his team were amazing. I will never waste time going anywhere else again. Dr Bearden has expertise, skill, compassion, honesty and friendliness!

The staff at the Hughston Clinic Valdosta is very professional. When I was injured in a fall it was the first place I would consider going for treatment. Love, Love, Love, Him ????I had total knee replacement on both knees four months apart and then had to have right knee surgery on my kneecap one month after my surgery from falling on it and Dr. Bearden went back in with Aaron and repaired the damage I had done! From there I had inpatient physical therapy at the nursing home for three weeks and Dr. Bearden did a fabulous job on the surgery! I would recommend him to anyone with knee pain or back pain!

I have been a patient of Dr Bearden for several years since moving back to Valdosta. He’s helped me with my feet and ankle issues due to RA. He’s performed several surgeries on my toes and ankles and has eliminated the pain and deformities that RA had caused.

Takes the time to explain treatment options & doesn’t make you feel he’s rushed to get to next patient. He’s friendly and talks to you and makes you feel at ease. He’s an excellent orthopedic Dr and cares about getting his patients back to normal and pain free. His staff is Great too.

Dr Bearden’s engaging demeanor was awesome on my first visit. Sat down and looked me in eye and was attentive as I explained my Ortho problem and took time to answer my questions. Exam was professional and through. He did not rush my visit in any way. Treatment plan has gone well and improvement already noted. Great staff and awesome physician. Thank you!

Dr. Bearden and his staff are outstanding.I search for 10 years trying to find the right orthopedic surgeon and Dr.Bearden was my choice. I personally would like to thank Dr. Bearden for giving me a chance to be able to walk again pain free. He performed right total knee replacement and left total knee replacement and both were a great success thank you.

Dr. Bearden and his staff treat myself and my husband. They've come to our rescue a few times. He has the best staff that could ever be in this fast world we live in today. All of them take the time to listen, look, and treat whatever is the problem. I've found over the years that this doctor and his staff deserve on a scale of 1-10, a 20. They are the best in everything they do!
