About David Rehak

David C. Rehak earned a degree in Engineering from Bucknell University and his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Rehak specializes in surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and upper extremity, as well as orthopaedic surgery. He is board-certified and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand awarded by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association of Hand Surgery. In addition, he has been a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons for 23 years.

Dr. Rehak and his staff are always very professional. Very little wait time. Dr. Rehak does not waste anytime in the exam room. He gets right to the point, explains plan or findings in detail. My second visit to Dr. Rehak in the last 5 years. Had great results first time and hopefully great results with this visit. Everyone from front desk, to vitals, to patient assistance, to X-rays were professional, friendly and timely. Dr. Hendrix examined me and explained, went over X-rays and even drew pictures as to what was going on in my hand. Dr. Rehak also went over and verified what was going on. Dr. Hendrix explained to me about the injection and administered it effectively. Yes he said it was a bit painful… but hey it’s a needle!! I would and will recommend Dr. Rehak always!!

I have now had a carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists in the last 2 months. The procedure was fully explained beforehand by Dr Rehak. The procedure itself was brief painless, and performed with local anesthesia. The postoperative recovery has been uncomplicated and successful in resolving my symptoms. Dr Rehak calls his patients the day after to insure that they are not experiencing any problems which I believe to be rare. I highly recommend Dr Rehak for any hand and wrist surgical procedures

Dr Rehak has performed carpal tunnel surgery on both of my wrists over the last 2 months. The preoperative evaluation was thorough and the procedure explained thoroughly. The procedures were essentially painless after local anesthesia. Dr Rehak gives a follow up call afterwards to insure you are not having any complications. Which is rare. The office staff is friendly and efficient with short waiting times. I highly recommend Dr Rehak for any hand and wrist orthopedic problems.

Dr Rehak has a unique educational background that may help him analyze symptoms and test reports differently that others. He is very self-disciplined in his clinical approach, managing to spend just enough time with each patient to review their condition and communicate next steps in the treatment plan. He will answer questions but the patient must come prepared to ask and to listen carefully. I have not observed him interact with a patient who is timid, confused or unprepared. He’s the right fit for me.

This visit was extremely pleasant. Check in was quick and simple. The wait time for seeing the doctor was short. Dr Rehak, even though quick, was thorough and direct. Did X-rays of my hand. The wait time was short as well. Tech was very polite with clear instructions. The final visit with the doctor, even though short, was good. Dr Rehak was clear and direct with his diagnosis and procedures of care. Again, even though the doctor was quick, I realize how busy his schedule is. The whole visit from start to finish was about 30 minutes or so. Not a complaint, just a well managed office.

The facilities appear flawless, well maintained and exceptionally clean. The furniture is comfortable and easy to get into and out of. The paperwork is reasonable and not complex. The highlight of the visit is the staff. I don’t know their names or titles, but I certainly recognize their smiles, positive attitudes, and willingness to help. Every staff member seemed to be anxious to help. Of special note was the X-Ray technician and the gentlelady who scheduled our next visit. I think someone called her Maria. I wish I knew all their names. Even the other patients were courteous to us and each other. My experience with Dr. Rehak and the resident(?) who worked with him was comfortable, caring, informative made me feel liked they cared about me, my health, and my general well being. I could say something positive about every person I encountered My best compliment is that I believe Dr. Houston would be proud.

He even called the next day to see how I was doing. I called within a day or so because of swelling. Linda in pt took pictures and sent to him. He immediately responded and told her that I was to meet at the hospital so he could look at it before he did surgery. He went up and beyond for me. I thank him f or that. Dr. Rehak has been my hand specialist for two years. I have seen him for several arthritis related episodes and trigger finger, and I’ve been totally satisfied with the care I received every time. First, I am a grumpy old retired RN. Second, this is my second serious hand injury in the past 5 years. I have been lucky to have Dr. Rehak as my physician both times. He and his office team are absolutely the best. The office is well organized and things ran smoothly when I was there for each of my visit(s). (They have it down to an science.) Every staff member I came in contact with appeared unhurried and was very personable and compassionate. Dr. Rehak is awesome when it comes to treating hand injuries. He explained everything about my injury in great detail. I left the visit knowing everything I needed to know and what the next steps were in my treatment plan. I hope I don’t injure my hand ever again, but if I do, I will be right back with Hughston and Dr. Rehak.

I saw Dr. Rehak today on a work in basis. I fell over the weekend, injuring my right hand. I was in a lot of pain and had a lot of swelling. He took the time to examine me to listen to me and go over the x-rays. I left there feeling a lot better. I would highly recommend Him and his staff to anyone that is having any hand/ wrist issues. Dr. Rehak provided excellent care for me after I fell and broke my wrist. I had to go to the ER in Albany for immediate care but was referred to a local surgeon there. I have used the Hughston clinic in the past and called first thing Monday morning. The receptionist was so kind and made sure I got in immediately that morning! Dr. Rehak was thorough and explained the procedure in simple language. He provided education about my recovery, restrictions, and referred me to an excellent OT hand specialist in Albany. I am very pleased with the care I received and have healed successfully. The Hughston clinic staff are superior from start to finish, and after surgery was scheduled, I was referred to the OT and left the office with physician orders for OT in hand. The whole process was organized and seamless. I highly recommend Dr. Rekak and the Hughston Clinic!

The surgery was very simple for me as I did not have to be put to sleep, yet a local of my hand and it was over pretty quick. Dr. Rehak is highly competent and incredibly skilled as a surgeon. I had two hand surgeries with Dr. Rehak on my extensor tendon of dominant hand that was injured to point could not straighten index finger or grip / hold items. During both surgeries and for all office visits, Dr. Rehak was very professional, efficient and effective in ensuring I received the best care possible and understood the process. I especially liked that he gave me an opportunity to ask questions even in the Operating Room and kept a calming and confident demeanor throughout. Dr. Rehak's staff were all also top-notch, friendly and professional. I also enjoyed how Dr. Rehak included my Occupational Therapist, Kaitlyn throughout - resulting in highest level of success. the office staff was very friendly, I got to my appointment and they took me back at my scheduled time. My office visit was timely, 30 wait to see Dr. Rehak. He explained in detail my medical issue with my hand; gave me two options. Which included my x-ray and explanation of having surgery. Option #1. Treatment in office steroid shot, and #2. No rush or push to have surgery and left surgery decision on me. I felt. like I had a Doctor who, in a no nonsense type of way, who was aware He had other patients waiting, Yet, I was his number one concern. I strongly 1000% recommend Dr. David Rehak. He has been taking care of me since 2002. I have rheumatoid arthritis & lupus which has caused my joints to severely deteriorate. I was referred by my PCP in 2002 to have my arms fixed due to both elbows being bent inward at around a 20° angle. I had a very hard time driving my 5 speed Camaro and doing the everyday simple things in life. I had my initial appt. with Dr. Rehak and automatically knew he was the Dr. I wanted to rebuild parts in my arms. I had my surgery and the next day he had PT come in to talk with me about moving my arm to get as much range of motion back as I possibly could. I was in the Hughston Hospital for 10 days and by the time I left, my arm was back to looking like a normal straight arm. He also done my right arm in 2003 doing the same surgery. The outcome was even better than the left arm. Fast forward to 19 yrs later, I desperately needed my right hand fixed so I made an appt. with Dr. Rehak to make a plan to get my hand rebuilt but during my appt. I told Dr. Rehak about my left arm squeaking and he immediately ordered ex-rays and seen that my hardware was wore out and broken in my left arm so he said it was more important to fix my left arm before operating on my right hand. Well on 12-14-21, Dr. Rehak operated on my left arm and he done a wonderful job once again. He was able to cut me on the same scar from years before which I was extremely happy about. I came home the same day, rested some and immediately started moving my arm around. Yes, I was in some pain but nothing too bad I couldn't handle. I went in for my 1st PT appt. on 12-17-21 to see Linda and she was impressed as to how well I was moving my arm and how it looked. I didn't need any PT at all because of how well I was doing things at home and keeping my arm moving. On 12-22-21, I had my 1st appt. after my surgery with Dr. Rehak and he also was impressed on how well I was doing with my new hardware. He showed me the before ex-rays as to how bad my elbow had broken over the years. I was in total disbelief that I didn't know my hardware had broken. The after ex-rays looked beautiful. I have a great respect for Dr. David Rehak👨‍⚕️🥼. He's a very smart orthopedic surgeon and has a great compassion for his patients. I get my 27 staples out of my arm 12-31-21 which I'm looking forward to 😊 and of course I'll follow up with Dr. Rehak and we'll make a plan to get my right hand joints replaced and fingers straightened out like a normal hand ✋... I feel so fortunate that my rumatalogist referred me to Dr Rehak. I had been experiencing a very painful hand/finger illness since Feb. His appointment dept got me in immediately, no delay at all. Dr Rehak discussed his plan of action & we went forward. We completed the conventional plan 1st & my hand was 100% better. However; having RA is just a challenge in itself. 4 weeks later my finger began to have the same issues. Dr Rehak & I discussed my choices of our next steps, together we decided surgery would be my best. I had surgery on my finger June 21st and now I am going to therapy. I often heard about elderly folk falling and breaking bones but considered I was not to be one of those. Imagine my surprise when I fell and broke my arm right at the wrist! The Houston Emergency Center in Phoenix City, AL treated me excellently and to my good fortune sent me to Dr. David Rehak at the Houston Orthopedic Center in Columbus, GA. I can hardly believe I fell and broke my arm at 75. Always thought I was stronger, more agile, wiser than that. Such a thing is for others, not me. What a surprise when I joined the others! Slipped on a wet step and broke my left radius right at the wrist. Called my daughter, the Pfarm D for guidance. She immediately said HOUSTON EMERGENCY CLINIC, Phoenix City, Al. They were great! Although the only pain I had to that point was to my ego, they prepared me with pain meds for the next step which was to pull, twist, and manipulate my body parts back into place. WOW! Had no pain through the whole experience. On the next Monday x-ray, Dr. Rehak said he hadn't expected to see the broke off piece so closely aligned and wanted monitor it a while before deciding to operate but finally did. With operation over three weeks I'm two weeks into therapy. I learned later from my therapist, Kristina Oliver that Dr. Rehak is a top ranked physician in his area. Everyone I've dealt with at Houston are the most efficient, friendly, and caring professionals I've had the good fortune to be in the care of. Dr. Rehak performed carpal and cubital surgery on me. Although he advised me to take a few days off, I was back at work the following day. I have experienced no numbness or pain since surgery. Dr. Rehak recently performed trigger finger surgery on me as well. By allowing the flexor tendon to move more freely, I now have full range of motion and all my grip strength back. The day after my surgeries, Dr. Rehak called me personally to check on my condition. His experience and expertise allowed me to return to the work I love, pain free. He did surgery on my left hand where I cut the fingers with a table saw. I cut my small pinky finger tip off, cut index and middle fingers to the bone. It cut the tendons and nerves completely into. Dr. Rehak performed three surgical procedures on my right arm during the same surgery. These included a Ulnar nerve release at the elbow, Medial nerve/Carpal Tunnel release in the wristand release of a trigger finger tendon on the ring finger. Went in for trigger finger release. Dr. David Rehak is top notch in his field. My trigger finger was dealing me fits. I went to see Dr. Rehak, he suggested we repair this finger asap. Apointment for surgery was without a doubt a great experience, he and his staff in surgery and clinic are GREAT, COURTEOUS, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. He and his staff are well trained and know their stuff. After I severely lacerated my little finger (severing tendons and laid it open requiring more than 18 stiches to sew it up in the emergency room). The damage was done on Saturday June 8. The emergency room made an appointment for me on Monday June 10 with Dr.. Rehak. On Tuesday June 11 Dr. Rehak surgically repaired my finger. For the next 12 weeks Dr. Rehak monitored and directed efforts in company with Rehab personnel until I was released on September 13. Throughout the process Dr. Rehak instructed me in the proper care and in the delicate healing process of tendons. As a result I now have full recovery of all functions of the finger. If you could see the damage you would understand the extent of my admiration for Dr. Rehak's skill and professionalism. Additionally Dr. Rehak has early morning surgery and office appointments and the office personnel are fast and extremely courteous and efficient.

Dr. Rehak is a superb surgeon. He successfully alleviated "trigger finger" of my ring finger five years ago, and will be repeating the procedure on my middle finger. I am a retired MD who treated active duty troops returning from deployment with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. Many also had severe combat-related orthopedic injuries of various types, and some suffered hand trauma. Those treated by Hughston Clinic physicians in general and by Dr. Rehak when hands were involved achieved the very best outcomes possible. I enthusiastically recommend him (and was pleased to note at my most recent visit that a medical student was shadowing him...fortunate student!).

I’ve seen my fair share of specialists in the past few months and dr rehak is by far the most knowledgeable and approachable of all I have been to lately. He listened to me and was very specific in ordering the right tests that needed to be done. I am 72 years old. I fell on my concrete walk and broke my hand and wrist in 5 places with one displacement . Dr Rehak did the surgery, inserting three titanium rods. Now six weeks later I have regained the flexibility and proper movement of that hand and am regaining its strength also. I am SO THANKFUL for his skill and knowledge that let me return to my regular activities without any loss of use of that hand.

Referred by my family physician for a broken hand. Non-union scaphoid fracture required surgery. Dr Rehak did an excellent job - complete recovery. Froa\\om the beginning on Dr. Rehak communicated openly with me about my condition and explained thoroughly what I can expect. He recommended certain treatments but in the end he let me choose the treatment that I felt comfortable with. My injury occurred on Dec 10th and Dr.Rehak saw me the next day.He relocated my dislocated pinkey finger on my left hand from an accident at home. The procedure was painless and quick. Dr. Rehak is amazing, we were able to get seen by him fairly fast from our insurance after my son partial severed hi pinky finger. Surgery was scheduled for the nest day where he repaired the tendon, nerve, and other damage done. Amazing bed side manner, may seem blunt at first but he is a busy man. I think everyone in the Dothan Al office was there Thoroughly explained everything especially to where my 12 year old understood what was being done and again the day of the surgery.

Dr Rehak treated me for a broken wrist. I broke it on a Saturday and he saw me first thing on Monday morning. He had already reviewed my x-rays from the ER and had me scheduled for surgery the next morning. He put a plate in and my wrist is as good as new. I highly recommend Dr Rehak and his staff. In fact I recommend Hughston Clinic. I would not go to another orthopedic practice in Columbus, GA.

He was able to give me good information about the surgery before i went in and then gave good instructions on how i should take care of it after. he was willing to go out of his way and call me personally after to check on me and see how i was doing and if the medication he gave me for the pain was working well. Dr. Rehak after having 2 Surgery's from Fort Benning Ga. on my Right wrist that was crushed by a Pit bull was able to do what the government surgeons were not able to do, he rebuilt part of my wrist and now I have full use of it, it has taken 12 years of hard work but his expertise I believe is what allowed me to have a full recovery.

I found him to be Professional, knowledgeable, and considerate. He showed me the x-ray, explained what he saw, answered my questions and set up surgery. During follow up visits, he took the time to examine my wrist, evaluate progress, discuss his findings and answer my questions.
