About Bruce Ziran

Bruce H. Ziran is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and orthopaedic traumatologist. He graduated from the Case Institute of Technology (BS Biomedical Engineering), and from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (MD) in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland / Case Western Reserve University and then pursued orthopaedic traumatology at UC Davis in Sacramento California under Dr. Michael W. Chapman, and an additional AO International fellowship at Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland under Dr. Reinhold Ganz. Prior to coming to the Hughston Clinic, Dr. Ziran served as director of orthopaedic trauma at Atlanta Medical Center, Orthopaedic Residency, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He founded and serves as course chairman of the Atlanta Trauma Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthopedic Trauma Association, the American Orthopaedic Association, and other international and regional organizations. He has written several books and peer reviewed articles in major orthopaedic journals and presented at international and national meetings. He is active with product development and holds several patents and serves as partner on the board of several medical device companies. Dr. Ziran’s research interests include polytrauma, complex fractures, pelvic/acetabular fractures, and economics and value issues in orthopaedic trauma. He plans to continue his research interests through the Hughston Foundation, Inc.
