About James McGrory
James E. McGrory, MD, completed his orthopaedic training at the Mayo Clinic. While there, he developed his expertise with total joint replacement of the hip and knee. He also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in 2011. Prior to his orthopaedic training, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL where he graduated summa cum laude. He attended medical school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
Dr. McGrory joined the Hughston Clinic after two years of private practice in Fort Worth, TX. Before going into private practice, he practiced medicine with the United States Navy at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. There, he served as staff orthopaedic surgeon on the total joint replacement team.
After nearly three decades of work as an orthopaedic spine, hip, and knee surgeon, Dr. McGrory has shifted his focus to the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He incorporates conventional nonoperative orthopaedic care with advanced orthobiologic therapies to maximize patient outcomes, avoiding invasive surgeries where possible.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is the author of numerous orthopaedic research papers published in the medical literature.
